Jennifer Smith
Biography
I have had a wonderful career in Jordan School District. I received my Bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University. I taught 6th grade at Ridgecrest Elementary in Cottonwood Heights, 5th grade at Foothills Elementary in Riverton, and returned to 6th grade at Blackridge Elementary in Herriman. My favorite subjects to teach were math and social studies. I then served in the role of BYU facilitator at Blackridge where I had the wonderful opportunity to work with
interns, student teachers, and practicum students in grades 1-6. The excitement and enthusiasm preservice teachers have is contagious and invigorating.
I was then ready for a new adventure! I returned to BYU and earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. I was the Assistant Principal at Foothills Elementary for 6 months and then was the Assistant Principal at Welby Elementary and Copper Canyon Elementary for one year.
I am excited to now be part of the Hayden Peak community! I look forward to meeting all the students, parents, faculty, and staff. My goal is to be a positive influence and support to all. I strive to be a good listener and treat everyone with kindness and dignity. My husband and I have seven children that we thoroughly enjoy spending time with. We enjoy going to the movies, playing board games, golfing, and traveling, especially to Disneyland, the “happiest place on earth.” I also enjoy reading. I think the Harry Potter series is amazing! I’ve read or listened to them on audiobook many times. My favorite “grown-up” genres are mysteries and historical fiction. I love making new friends everywhere I go. I’m confident I will soon have many new friends here at Hayden Peak!
