Students are getting excited about PTA Reflections this year! The theme for 2015-2016 Reflections is "Let Your Imagination Fly!"

Every student in any grade is invited to participate! Students can create an original work that reflects this year's theme. The work can be anything such as

  • literature
  • visual arts (including 3D)
  • film production
  • music composition
  • dance choreography
  • photography

Remember, the work needs to be original student work. If your child is interested in participating, there are copies of entry forms and category rules in the Main Office at school.

The deadline for all submissions is October 26, 2015!

If you have any questions, please contact Heather Riddle at 801-898-9285 or at

Are you a 4th grade parent looking for new ideas for family activities?

The Every Kid in a Park Pass launched September 1st. Fourth grade students and their families will benefit from free admission to fee-collecting parks, public lands and waters by downloading a paper pass from the Every Kid website (

Have your student log onto the Every Kid in a Park website and complete the interactive activity that NPS has developed in conjunction with Scholastic. Once they complete the on line activity they are able to print out a paper voucher, which can be used in exchange for the admission fee for federal lands and waters that charge a fee. The paper pass can cover the entire vehicle that the 4th grader is in, meaning the pass will cover families (the 4th grader must be present).

This pass is good from September 1, 2015-August 31, 2016. In addition, your fourth grader can exchange their paper pass for a more durable, ‘keepsake’ Fourth Grade Annual Pass! There are numerous locations that will have the durable pass (including GLCA entrance stations). It is not mandatory to exchange the paper permit for the more durable permit.

So sign up at ! Get your free pass today!

Think of each Hawkeye means a little visitor is coming down to my office for postive reinforcement and prizes from me. Our cell tower pays for the prizes that your children earn. Here are the results of the total amount of Hawkeyes that have been given out this year.

Kinder 545
1st 1,700
2nd 1,768
3rd 1,477
4th 2,443
5th 1,027
6th 751

Total: 9,711 little visits to my office over a period of 172 days = average of 56 per day (give or take a few). I'd say that's a lot of good vibes happening at Hayden Peak!
