2019 School Climate Survey
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Beginning February 4, 2019, and continuing through March 15, 2019, our school will be administering school climate surveys. All parents/guardians and students second grade and higher are being invited to participate.
The purpose of this survey is to gather input about school climate and the effectiveness of the teachers and administrators at our school. Responses are anonymous and no personal information will be collected. Reports will be made available for teachers and administrators to use in their school improvement efforts. The survey is short, taking less than 10 minutes to complete.
Parent Survey:

During the survey window, there will be computers available at our school’s parent teacher conferences coming up on March 6th and 7th if you would like to complete the survey at that time. The survey will be available in both English and Spanish.
Students will take surveys during school time. The first page of the survey allows the respondent to opt out of the survey by clicking “I do not wish to take the survey.” If you do not want your child to take the survey, your child may opt out at the time of administration.
Thank you in advance for your participation.
Sincerely,
David Butler
Principal

Hayden Peak Day of Caring! Save the Date!
We are so fortunate to have the best community and support! Over the last couple of years, we have had the opportunity to participate in Comcast Cares Day and your support has been overwhelming. This year, we will be hosting the Hayden Peak Day of Caring! Ivory Homes has generously donated trees for us to plant. In addition, we will do some weeding and clean up in and around the school. Please mark your calendar for Saturday, May 18, 2019 and plan to volunteer! We look forward to another wonderful day of volunteering, music, and fun!
Valentine's Day is Thursday, February 14, 2019. While it is often thought of as a holiday for couples, it is also a wonderful day to let those you care about know how you feel! Here are a few Valentine Family Date ideas:
Go bowling
Take a city tour
Do a rose drop for widows
A dollar store blitz
Dinner and a movie
Go to the zoo
Take cookies to neighbors
Kids' choice!
SPOTLIGHT! Girls Who Code Club
Hayden Peak Elementary offers many opportunities for our students to expand and share their talents in after school programs. Over the next few months, we will spotlight each of the programs and how your child can participate. This month we are spotlighting the GIRLS WHO CODE CLUB!
This is a brand new after school program for 4th, 5th grade girls. What is coding? It means to construct a set of instructions to implement an algorithm in order to solve a problem. Those instructions then allow a program to run, whether it is on a computer, tablet, or phone.
The club goes from Tuesday, January 15-March 19, 2019. Girls in the 4th and 5th grade will have fun learning this valuable skill.
